Weekend in Pictures

Yes, I’ve been a bad blogger… again.… let’s just say that when I’m absent from the blog I am actually out in the real world working on secret beautiful projects to spoil you with. It’s like I am ‘banking beautiful’ for later on.

I owe you two Weekend in Pictures don’t I… so let’s just call it ‘Week in Pictures’ as I actually shot a little bit in between the weekends…

We had to cancel our last market at the last minute due to Frankie having a flat tyre… it was a shame as I only discovered it at 9pm Friday night as I was packing…however we did get to have a sleep in and a day off which was very much overdue. It was an overcast and moody day, perfect for not doing much.

Timothy O and I hit the fish market and ‘caught’ ourselves some whiting to put in the wood fire oven for dinner.

Gathered some bits from the backyard to light the fire.

Sat and watched the fire roar while listening to the rain come down.

I was up bright and early for Sunday. Megan Morton’s The School  came to Brisbane (at Anna Spiro’s Black and Spiro to be exact)  and I photographed Lulu Lucky’s paper chandelier class.

Beautiful paper mess at Lulu Lucky’s class.

I came home and rearranged bits around the house (do you do that? I love doing that) Look at this amazing basket which I am currently borrowing from a girlfriend of mine. Can you believe it was the basket she used to carry her baby girl around in 30 years ago. Such a beautiful handmade object. I am a bit in love with it

Sunday evening I cleaned up the wardrobe also known as the clothes pile and found an old friend….my zebra scarf…. If you have seen me lately I’m sure you would of seen this scarf too…. it’s been on my head, around my neck, tied on to my handbag and used as a keyring (it was a bit bulky as a key ring, that phase didn’t last long).

Through the week I hit the open road to do a delivery out of town.

I love small country towns. I spent a lot of time in small country towns about ten years ago, I feel very much at home the further I drive away from the city.

Found myself a Panama hat in a little country shop on the road trip…. it came in an old brown faded box which had the word ‘Summer’ written in old handwriting. It’s probably the stiffest hat I have ever touched… it might just live on the hat rack.

Saturday morning came around and Timothy O and I hit the road to do some sourcing… we drove into some rain which always makes for an interesting drive. We had the music up loud as we belted out words to songs we knew and made up the words to others we didn’t know….

Came home with some great stock for this week’s market.

My favourite find was this marble egg encourager for hens. I decided to keep it for the girls.

Timothy O’s new keyring.

Found this old Pyrex coffee pot. When my girlfriend Sally O comes to visit I only ever have tea for her  tea does not impress Sally. Hopefully this classic little number will do the trick.

Come the afternoon I changed the sheets and did laundry – yup, the fun stuff.

Sunday morning I made an old breakfast favourite from when we lived in London – Toast with cream cheese, honey and cinnamon. Decadent and delicious.

Found Coco almost camouflaged upstairs. Her cackling gave it away. Coco much prefers the indoors than the outdoors. Funny little chicken.

Bettina on the other hand got into something and ended up covered in sap which turned her into a walking sticky ‘post it note’. Not good when you are covered in feathers,

We have a pigeon problem…. I am truly over pigeons.

The entire harvest from our blueberry tree…

Then we finished off Sunday with an easy dinner of fresh prawns.

That was it for another week. I’ll be more regular this week,  I promise.
